Harley-Davidson riders may seem like insensitive cretins every time they zoom past your home with their engines revving, but deep down inside they are caring souls who only occasionally make your ears bleed. This Sunday November 7th, they'll take the caring and the noise pollution to a whole new level when 1,000 of them gather for the "Love Ride." The annual event, this year a 32-mile trek from Glendale Harley-Davidson to Calamigos Ranch in Malibu Hills, CA, brings bikers together to raise money for a charitable cause. This year the wild hogs will be conjuring up cash for Autism Speaks. Plenty should turn up to watch talk show host and Grand Marshal Jay Leno lead the band of merry motorists along the way, but if the hum emanating from an ocean of engines isn't your thing, Blackline GPS is providing blinking dot, motorcycle and charity enthusiasts alike the opportunity to follow along at home.
The Calgary-based GPS fleet tracking experts have donated Escort Entourage CIS and Escort Entourage PS units to the event, so that anyone who can't make it, can easily follow along online. While we doubt they'll make use some of the units' more security-based features like tamper sensing and theft detection or SMS and Email alerts, they should do an effective job of keeping track of this relatively short trek. Whether or not you're into motorcycles or Jay Leno, you've got to applaud the wonderful efforts by everyone involved to bring attention to such a wonderful cause.
