The first things you notice about these MiFi siblings are their looks: they’re just plain sexy. Weighing in at much less than a pound with thin, sleek bodies, these intelligent mobile hot spots look like something James Bond might whip out on a mission. They certainly accomplish what they were made to do: give you fast Internet connections wherever mobile signals can be found. You get an HSDPA modem capable of download speeds of up to 7.2mbps and up link speeds of 5.76mbps. Both have up to 16GB of expandable microSD memory along with GPS capabilities.

If you’re lonely while surfing the web, then you’re in luck—the devices can support up to five simultaneous Wi-Fi connections for your friends and for all their various gadgets (phones, laptops, cameras, gaming consoles), and the connection is so good (even while sharing) that you can convince yourself you’re surfing the web at home instead of the car, hotel or anywhere else you happen to be. For their small size, the MiFi 2352 and MiFi 2372 pack a nice punch. Advertised as having ranges of up to 10m (30 feet), these mobile hot spots can actually project good signals as far out as 40 feet, with rechargeable lithium batteries lasting up to four hours. And because they support HSPA, UMTS, EDGE and GPRS platforms, as well as being GSM based (unlike earlier models created by Verizon and Sprint) you really can get a signal all over world.

So what’s the difference between the MiFi 2352 and MiFi 2372?

Nothing big. The MiFi 2352 was Novatel Wireless’ first release, designated for distribution in Asia and Europe, while the MiFi 2372 was rolled out later, reaching South America, Canada and the U.S. (through AT&T and T-Mobile–sorry Verizon users). There is also a slight discrepancy in the 3G frequencies they support; the MiFi 2352 supports 900/1900/2100 MHz 3G UMTS/HSPA frequencies, while the MiFi 2372 supports 850/1900/2100 MHz 3G UMTS/HSPA frequencies. So the choice between the MiFi 2352 and MiFi 2372 really just boils down to who your phone operator is.

The Novatel Wireless MiFis perform at a high level and are more than satisfactory in creating a private bubble of unrivaled wireless connectivity, all wrapped up in a good-looking package.

The review has read like one long MiFi endorsement, and for good reason. Both devices are excellent in that they perform as well (or even better than) advertised. However, there is one catch: the price. With high quality comes a high price tag. Quantum-Wireless.com has a complete selection of Novatel MiFis, including the MiFi 2352, the MiFi 2372 and the MiFi 2200, which is the Verizon edition of the device.
