]]>Cradlepoint CTR500 Mobile Broadband Router
Mobile broadband this last year has started to become quite popular. The ability to put a SIM card in a compatible laptop, or use a USB dongle has allowed people on the move to connect to the internet where ever they can pick up a 3G mobile phone signal. The Cradlepoint CTR500 takes things a step further by allowing a number of computers to connect to it and share the connection. This comes in handy for people on business trips or maybe even groups who want to work together sharing the same connection.
The CTR500 connects up to EVDO and 3G networks and creates a wireless network for other computers to connect to it. You do need to connect a USB model to the device to connect to the web but once connected it allows up to 32 people to share the connection wirelessly.
The CTR500 mobile broadband router can also be used with an option antenna for improving signal quality to get the most out of it. It supports multiple VPN pass-through and for wireless security it has WEP at 64/128Bit as well as WPA and WPA2 encryption.

Working
Connect a data-ready cellular phone into the USB host port, and the CTR500 automatically establishes a connection to your cellular provider’s data network. It works similar to the way a home router manages a DSL or Cable modem (connect and forget).
Once you plug in a Cellular USB modem or a Handset equipped with a phone-as-modem tethered data plan, you can associate your PC with the CTR500 just like in a Café Hotspot and you’re on the Internet. You can optionally use the RJ-45 Ethernet port with a wired LAN to give you easy shared wireless access when available.

Secure and Reliable
The high-performance router platform supports multiple and concurrent VPN pass-through sessions, plus encryption modes including WPA2 Personal and Enterprise to provide secure client access. Unique built-in auto-failover between broadband sources enables wireless backup applications and maximum uptime.
Simple
CradlePoint’s built-in Setup Wizard provides diskless set up of security settings – getting a remote workgroup up and running quickly regardless of OS or device-type on the network. For site selection and placement convenience, the CTR500 also includes a signal strength mode, which enables external LED indication of cellular signal strength.

Conclusion
CradlePoint’s family of routers offers features necessary for businesses of all types to stay connected, even when wired ISP service is interrupted or is not easily available. The “plug ‘n’ play” set up of CradlePoint routers is attractive to offices with limited IT resources. “Using our routers for redundant or backup to a wired ISP has always been a great feature for CradlePoint users. With WiMAX, businesses have the option of doing away with wired ISP services and directly connecting to the Clear service as their primary connection.” said Jack Alton, CradlePoint VP of Sales..
CradlePoint’s firmware release version 1.5.1, available April 6 for current customers, puts the power of WiMAX into the hands of consumers and businesses, and enables a new class of business-capable mobile broadband with 4G download speeds that exceed DSL, and rival cable modem speeds. The release offers continued support for all current 3G devices, over 70 different combinations of modems and cellular broadband networks.
“CradlePoint’s ability to interface with over one billion Wi-Fi enabled devices in use today–from laptops and netbooks to desktop PCs, printers, VoIP phones, cameras and PDAs–maximizes the potential of Clearwire’s network, while simultaneously improving the user-experience of its subscribers.” said Alton.
So if you only have an express card modem then the CTR500 is right for your specific needs.

Cradlepoint MBR1200 Cellular Router
The All Connected Business Series, to service the small to medium office market. The debut product in the series is a new business-class router, the MBR1200 Failsafe Gigabit N Router, to provide high-availability to users of both traditional wired networks and wireless networks using 3G and/or 4G services.
The Cradlepoint MBR1200 is a cellular router that simultaneously supports up to five separate 3G or 4G mobile broadband modems as its internet connectivity. The key purpose of any cellular router is to allow multiple computers access to the internet — via 3G modems like those from Verizon and AT&T, or 4G devices like those from Sprint and Clear — and the MBR1200 is the most versatile router to make that happen.
With its three USB ports, expresscard and pcmcia slots, the MBR1200 officially supports more 3G and 4G modems than any other cellular router, and Cradlepoint stands alone as the manufacturer who adds support for the newest modems in the shortest amount of time — often having support for a modem even before the modem is officially launched by a carrier!
Aside from having the most inputs, the MBR1200 doesn’t hold back when it comes to creating a local area network. The MBR1200 is the first cellular router to offer a built-in four-port ethernet switch that offers not just 10/100 speeds, but also 1000mbp/s LAN connectivity (a.k.a. “gigabit ethernet”). In addition to its gigabit switch, the MBR1200 supports up to 64 wireless clients over 802.11N WiFi (backwards compatible to WiFi B/G) through two internal MIMO antennas or two external high-gain WiFi antennas.
Beyond just being a cellular router, the MBR1200 also features a dedicated ethernet WAN port allowing it to perform as a Cable/DSL/Satellite router… but it doesn’t stop there. The MBR1200 also features the ability to convert LAN port #4 to serve as WAN port #2, allowing for a total of seven different paths to the internet.
To provide connected users the highest level of “internet uptime”, the MBR1200 can failover between ANY of the internet sources, and will even simultaneoulsy provide load balancing across all active internet sources. This ability to quickly switch from a failed service to a backup service means many businesses with unstable internet service will find the MBR1200 hard to live without.

Always Connected
The Cradlepoint MBR1200 is a robust 802.11n router with 3G/4G failover capabilities. Built for home, small business, branch office, temporary and remote enterprise environments seeking to implement continuous, always-on connectivity.
With its failover/failback capability, the MBR1200 automatically switches to a secondary connection (either wired or wireless) when your primary service is interrupted. Once your service is restored, the MBR1200 will automatically failback to the primary connection – keeping your business online with minimal interruption to users.
VPN: Secure and Reliable
The high-performance MBR1200 has the capability to create, manage, and terminate multiple IPSec VPN sessions. It provides up to five concurrent sessions, supporting transfer and tunnel modes and several Hash and Cipher algorithms. These encryption protocols protect your communications from one private network to another from end-to-end.
Enterprise Power – SMB Simple
Powered by WiPipe technology, the MBR1200 router includes many features found in expensive, enterprise-class routers at a fraction of the cost. With minimal setup and maintenance, including Cradlepoint’s pre-installed software; it has “right out of the box” simplicity.
Standard on the MBR1200 are security features such as multiple WiFi encryption modes (WEP and WPA/WPA2 Personal and Enterprise) and built-in firewall, which prevent unauthorized use of your connection. With no additional software to load, you’ll be up and running in minutes.

Cradlepoint has added another 4G router to its range – the MBR900. The product aims to provide an always on internet connection for business and home networks.
As well as supporting Ethernet-based data connections it’s ready to be used with 3G / 4G mobile broadband devices, such as USB modems.
This means that Cradlepoint’s MBR900 allows you to use both wired and wireless internet connections to create a redundant connection – when your wired connection goes down, the MBR900 will automatically activate your 3G / 4G wireless connection so you can carry on surfing.
The latest in the series, the MBR900 Mobile Broadband N Router provides Internet access to customers who cannot get digital subscriber line or cable, or who want a backup for their wired Internet service, according to Cradlepoint officials.
Satellite Internet service is expensive and doesn’t give the user a great experience, says Alton. Dial-up is out of choice for many users. “With the MBR900 and a data service plan from the customers’ 3G or 4G mobile broadband carriers, they can have broadband Internet speeds and connect every device in their home or office.”

Working
MBR900 works with a built-in “failsafe” feature. The system senses any disruption in the wired Internet connection and automatically fails over to either a 3G or 4G service, whichever is present. Once the wired Internet service has been restored, the MBR900 will then fail back to the wired Internet service.
Cradlepoint’s MBR900 Failsafe Gigabit N Router offers 3G and 4G mobile broadband compatibility with one USB port supporting more than 110 modems from all major U.S. carriers. It also features five 10/100 Ethernet ports.
The router is secured by 64/128 WEP, WPA and WPA2 and user login requirement. It supports 802.11n for broadest range and best throughput. The equipment does not require any software to run. MBR900 includes Cradlepoint’s WiPipe technology and sets up in just minutes.
Also included are multiple concurrent IPSec, L2TP and PPTP VPN pass-through sessions, two multiple input/multiple output antennas, and up to 32 concurrent device connections, according to sources.

Cradlepoint MBR1200 – Failsafe Gigabit N Router for Mobile BroadbandALWAYS CONNECTED
The CradlePoint MBR1200 is a robust 802.11n router with 3G/4G failover capabilities.
Built for home, small business, branch offices, temporary and remote enterprise environments seeking to implement continuous, always-on connectivity.
Powered by WiPipe™ technology, the MBR1200 router includes many features found in expensive, enterprise class routers at a fraction of the cost.
With minimal setup and maintenance, including our pre-installed software, it has “right out of the box” simplicity.
Standard on the MBR1200 are security features such as multiple WiFi encryption modes (WEP and WPA/WPA2 Personal and Enterprise) and built-in firewall, which prevent unauthorized use of your connection.
With no additional software to load, you’ll be up and running in minutes.
