Founder and CEO of Quantum Wireless, Ari Zoldan, was invited as a guest contributor on FOX Business’ Varney & Co. to discuss the topic of dying technology companies, specifically RIM and Yahoo. Doubts have recently been raised concerning the future of RIM, especially considering the delayed release of their new O.S.
Ari, nonetheless, is confident in the loyal customer base which Blackberry holds and sees their current 9% smartphone market share as promising. A fellow contributor stated she felt customers are only continuing the use of the Blackberry because they are constrained through contracts, and as soon as their contracts conclude, they will explore other options. No technology company is perfect, and through finding solutions for their management issues and working on their upgrade complications, Ari believes RIM is nowhere near a “death spiral.”
Yahoo!, too, has experienced a sharp decline. Ari, though, views this as something every company is currently enduring. Even though they might never be able to return to being the leaders of the search industry, “…they don’t have to, maybe number two is OK.” In any case, where ever Yahoo ranks in terms of leading search engines, they are still quite the profitable company.
