After visiting the Verizon/Cradlepoint Booth, we came across another amazing booth that caught our eye at CES 2012: the Huawei booth!

The ICT provider came to CES 2012 with bold intentions: introducing three new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich handsets, namely the Ascend P1 and P1 S, which is now the world’s thinnest smartphone, and the Ascend P1 4G LTE smartphones.
Already greatly acclaimed by the specialized press, Huawei’s new handsets are taking on Samsung’s massive market share on the Android-powered smartphones market place.

In order to fully enjoy the 4G LTE capabilities of the Ascend P1 once it is available on the US market, Quantum already provides 4G signal boosters, ensuring great 4G speed and preventing dropped calls.

The Wilson Sleek 4G-V designed for Verizon and also introduced at CES 2012 is the first 4G mobile cradle booster and would perfectly fit the Ascend P1 4G, should it be carried by Verizon!

However, we came across the Verizon booth (Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall, Booth #30259) in partnership with CradlePoint and thought that we needed to tell you more about it! Here is an exclusive peek inside Verizon’s and CradlePoint’s CES Booth!

First of all, here is a picture of their installation for you to understand the scale of their involvement.

As announced via press release in preparation of the CES 2012, CradlePoint and Verizon decided to present their combined solutions for network connectivity.
CradlePoint is thus providing access to the Verizon 4G LTE network through CradlePoint routers, using Verizon Wireless external USB data modems or CradlePoint’s new integrated business-grade mobile broadband, represented below.

CradlePoint routers provide users with highly secure and versatile wireless internet access via mobile broadband or Wi-Fi. They always ensure great speeds as well as the ability to support multiple users simultaneously and patented technologies preventing interrupted connections among many other useful features.
The partnership with Verizon allows them both to test out their modules: CradlePoint routers thus prove their efficiency and reliability on the country’s largest 4G network, while it also speaks for the speed and force of Verizon’s network.

The models of CradlePoint routers presented at CES, on the Verizon network, will be available on Quantum-Wireless.com shortly.

Carriers, Booster Makers Argue Legality, Waiting for FCC Decision http://www.quantum-wireless.com/blog/carriers-booster-makers-argue-legality-waiting-for-fcc-decision-4387/ http://www.quantum-wireless.com/blog/carriers-booster-makers-argue-legality-waiting-for-fcc-decision-4387/#comments Wed, 10 Mar 2010 17:41:32 +0000 admin http://www.quantum-wireless.com/blog/?p=4387

Both cell carriers and cell signal booster makers are calling on the Federal Communications Commission to take action regarding signal boosters.

The FCC is considering legislation that would make cell signal boosters illegal unless they are released by wireless operators or consented from a wireless operator.

Wilson Electronics believes that setting standards for signal boosters by the carriers will not work on science, but on greed and motives of the carriers to make as much money as possible.

Wilson singled out Verizon Wireless because they haven’t worked with Wilson previously and only have data from older booster models. Wilson also stated that Verizon isn’t serving the public because it hasn’t shown interest in approving boosters designed with built-in protection against degradation or interference.

Wilson has sold more than 500,000 signal boosters and cite Canadian company Telus as a blueprint of how the booster companies and carriers can work together to promote products. Telus markets Wilson products in Canada.

Companies are filing in favor of carrier-approved signal boosters, but Wilson points to the need for boosters after the Mexican Hat incident where a bus accident occurred in a rural area and forced someone to drive 36 miles to get cell reception. The National Transportation Safety Bureau recommended that all buses traveling on rural routes get a Wilson cell signal booster.

The carriers have the view that because billions were spent on building out the cell networks, they must protect them to serve the public interest. Cell signal boosters help one person, but have a negative effect on the rest of the network.

Dear Router Ryan,

Does the Option 452 3G modem have any carrier branding? And is it unlocked?
