Sprint recently introduced its very own high-speed wireless connection service for businesses, called Sprint Biz 360.
Directly aimed at delivering wireless 4G WiMAX connection to offices, this solution represents a true benefit for businesses that were usually confronted to the difficult task of installing wired connections in remote locations or for temporary use only.
In order to deliver optimal performance and great speeds, Sprint chose our valued partner CradlePoint to provide its customers with a highly performing 4G/3G router. In Sprint’s press release, the company introduced the CradlePoint MBR95 4G/3G wireless router in its business offer to ensure primary mobile broadband connection and a network failover solution.
The MBR 95 is one of the most popular 4G/3G routers for both office or home use. Is a simple and secure way to share your cable, DSL, 3G or 4G connection everywhere you need it. The MBR ensures a stable and high speed network over a 600-ft range for up to 32 active connections simultaneously.
The MBR 95 also offers the failover option which prevents connection losses to hinder your business. In case of such event, the router automatically switches to a secondary source of internet access without even the slightest interruption, preventing interruptions in data transmission.
CradlePoint’s MBR95 is one of the most advanced router on the market and it is already available on Quantum Wireless. We also offer multiple additional CradlePoint products, providing the latest solutions for 4G/3G routers.

What is a MiFi hotspot and why have these devices generated so much buzz? A MiFi is simply a portable, handheld device that creates a wireless internet hotspot wherever there is existing cell phone coverage. Without this device, one would only be able access the internet in an area near an existing WiFi access point, such as a local library or Starbucks. A MiFi not only provides online access within a 30-foot radius, it also enables up to five WiFi-enabled devices, such as MP3 players and digital cameras, to connect to the internet as well.
When you insert your cellphone’s SIM card into an unlocked MiFi, it allows the MiFi to access your cellphone carrier’s network. Its capability as a router enables it to create and share a WiFi network with other devices. The MiFi has storage capabilities for downloaded files and it runs on a rechargeable battery that allows for up to four hours of use on the go. You must select a model that is compatible with your mobile phone’s network provider and purchase a monthly data plan from them as well. It is also important to select a MiFi that is compatible with your desired continental phone carrier, as these devices function only with select providers on specific continents. Mobile hotspots are extremely useful for business or vacation travelers who require internet access in hotels, in airports and while in transit.

]]>With Google Voice users climbing to 1.5 million and the ever-increasing popularity of Android phones, is it time for Google to become its own mobile provider? CNN Money provides a thought-provoking investigation into Google’s enormous potential in the mobile space.
Google Voice already enables users to make VoIP calls, bypassing their carriers’ voice plans to make free calls over WiFi. There are rumors that Google has quietly slurped up some unused broadband, also known as or “dark fiber.” If there is any truth to this, Google’s infrastructure could already be on hand. Finally, the Android operating system has already taken the market by storm. On the surface, it seems Google becoming a mobile service provider is a no-brainer.
“Google’s various efforts are clearly focused on being able to reach as many people on the planet as possible, but that is not something they can fully accomplish just by licensing out Android,” says Quantum-Wireless CEO, Ari Zoldan. “If Google could find an easy way to transition into the cell space and provide mobile coverage, there would be some very serious advantages to that.” So why is Google holding back?
Regulatory scrutiny and Google’s lack of customer service and retail experience are just some of the theoretical limits that are working against Google. But with a company like Google, do theoretical limits even matter? The answer remains to be seen.

]]>Earlier last week, ZTE , a telecommunications manufacturer, sent the heavily anticipated global WiFi hotspot, the “FiveSpot”, to the FCC for approval. It had previously been leaked as a Verizon product, so when the device was sent to the FCC under the ZTE manufacturer name, and not with the expected Verizon branding, most technology analysts missed it in the news.
The FiveSpot is a welcomed advancement on the technological front because it is expected to replace the few years-old MiFi. The MiFi is a solid product, and there are currently three versions, the MiFi 2200, MiFi 2372 and MiFi 2352. The 2200 is unique because it is for CDMA networks only. These devices are locked, meaning that you can’t switch carriers at your will. The 2372 and 2352, on the other hand, are for GSM networks. They are unlocked, and work in North America and Europe, respectively. The FiveSpot is global and features both CDMA and GSM radios, enabling the device to work well in over 40 countries. It will be a welcome update to the already enjoyed MiFi models.
There is a lot of speculation as to why the device was sent to the FCC without the Verizon branding. Engadget is following rumors that Verizon dropped the product to make room for their LTE plans. The blog on Nexus404 is under the impression that the product will return with a Verizon branding. No information has been released as to the release date or pricing of the device yet.

Now computers, mobile phones, and game stations can share a high-speed wireless connection to the Internet through your 3G mobile broadband USB modem. Just plug in the modem and all the WiFi devices you choose have fast, easy Internet access. It’s a great way to share your high-speed mobile broadband connection at home, the office, or anywhere else that AC power is available.
The 3G Router’s wireless-N networking capability is fast, with extended range for maximum mobility. Now you can provide a 3G mobile broadband Internet connection to all your WiFi devices, including Windows, Macintosh, or Linux computers, iPhones and other WiFi mobile phones, the iTouch and Blackberry, barcode readers, and game stations including Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DS Lite, and Playstation Portable.
The Model 4501 can often provide an improved 3G connection where signal strength is low. Put the Router and 3G modem where the local 3G signal strength is the best, such as near a window. Then the Router will complete the connection to local WiFi devices through extended-range wireless-N capability. You can connect computers and other devices to the Router through its wireless-N capability or through the Model 4501′s Ethernet LAN jack. You can also plug an ADSL modem or cable modem into the 4501 through an Ethernet WAN port to provide router functions to those broadband connections. When also connected to a 3G USB modem, the 4501 will provide automatic backup to your wired Internet connection.
The 4501 provides an extensive list of router features, including robust firewalls, VPN Pass-through, DHCP server, Quality of Service (QoS) and other router functions for up to 253 simultaneous users. The 4501 also supports a wide range of Internet service connection protocols, including static IP, dynamic IP (DHCP client), PPTP, L2TP, PPPoE, and 3G. These can be set up easily if you need them by using the Router’s built-in browser interface, or use Universal Plug and Play for even easier setup.

Option Wireless released the uCAN Connectapplication platform, a cutting-edge connection management software platform. The latest version allows operators to reduce data traffic on 3G networks by off-loading it onto available WiFi networks.
Option developed uCAN Connect for network operators facing the choice of complex connection manager solutions generally focused on enterprise customers or utility software from each hardware manufacturer. The solutions do not meet operator’s requirements for an easy, modular, easy to support connection manager that can be quickly customized to meet needs of their different channels.
“Our new uCAN Connect software platform builds upon many years of experience within our Company of the real problems faced by mobile network operators. Operators like Telenor clearly appreciate the value and the return on investment our software platform brings to them.” Jan Callewaert, CEO at Option Wireless said, “Software is a cornerstone in Option’s strategy to provide integrated 3G solutions to its customers. Firmware, connection management and applications are the three software areas where we already have a strong track record or where we are intensifying our efforts. A strong series of products that focus on real world problems will enable us to deliver more valuable solutions to our customers.”
uCAN Connect reduces costs through Smart Skin Engine and allows user interface to be customized for a specific operator channel without changing the core product. A single code base supports all platforms while features can move to different operating systems.
