The Option Wireless GlobeSurfer X-1 is a high-speed Wi-Fi router that connects wireless modems for mobile and/or fixed devices to the Internet both quickly and easily. The wireless USB modem connects up to 225 users to the global Internet, and can offer data transfer rates up to 16- Mbps to be shared by multiple users. It is a stylish, compact plug 'n play device that requires no installation and is ready to use immediately when the wireless modem is plugged into its USB port.
The built-in Graphical User Interface (GUI) enables users to access the Internet by simply launching the browser in the computer or PDA. The device is 'unlocked' to connect wireless USB modems manufactured by different service providers, making it universally acceptable by all consumers. The GlobeSurfer supports IEEE 802.11b/g and n protocols and Wi-Fi standards with Multiple-in-Multiple-out (MIMO) transmission and reception antenna technology. The 802.11n is seven times faster than the earlier 802.11g standard and in MIMO, multiple signals are received and sent by the antenna at the same time. The use of MIMO antenna technology offers faster, more reliable functioning of the wireless router.
The GlobeSurfer is comprised of two RJ45 Ethernet ports and two USB ports, one dedicated to the wireless modem and the other used for optional file and printer serving functions. The file and printer servers can be shared by all users connected to the high-speed router. The GlobeSurfer can be used as a Local Area Network (LAN) if the wireless modem provided is not connected and the mobile devices are linked to one another though the router. The devices in a LAN can share files among themselves and use the printer application without connecting to the Internet.
Two Ethernet ports at the rear of the router can provide Internet functionality without the need to plug in the wireless modem. An Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) fixed line may be connected in one of the two Ethernet ports to serve as a backup if the modem fails to operate. The second Ethernet port may be used for non-wireless enabled devices.
Hidden LEDs in plastic casing illuminate when certain applications are being used. Power status, Wi-Fi connectivity, physical connection via Ethernet port, and Wireless USB modem Internet connection status LEDs are displayed, enabling the user to learn about the functions carried out by the effective router.
