Quick Overview

Portable:

Creates a Secure WiFi Hotspot from broadband-enabled cellular phones and modems. Enjoy the simplicity and convenience of WiFi without having to search around for a hotspot and without risking a non-secure connection.

Secure:

Built-in firewall and secure chat allows you or your group to work securely while protecting your bandwidth. WEP and WPA encryption meet strict IT standards for WiFi security.

Simple:

The CTR-350 teamed with your EVDO or HSDPA cell phone or a Cellular USB modem gives you and your team instant, reliable, and secure Internet access wherever you work. It's great for simplifying individual access as well as sharing. There's no need to add hardware or software to your PC to get connected to the broadband cellular networks. Finally, you can have the convenience of WiFi and the coverage of cellular in one solution.

How it Works:
  • Connect a data-ready cellular phone into the USB host port, and the CTR350 automatically establishes a connection to your cellular provider's data network.
  • It works similar to the way a home router manages a DSL or Cable modem, connect and forget.
  • Once you plug in a Cellular USB modem or a Handset equipped with a phone-as-modem tethered data plan, you can associate your PC with the CTR350 just like in a Cafe Hotspot and you're on the Internet.
  • You can optionally use the RJ-45 Ethernet port with a wired LAN to give you easy shared wireless access when available.
Features:
  • Wi-Fi Compliant with IEEE 802.11 b/g Standards
  • Compliant with IEEE 802.11 b/g Standards
  • Tethers to Cellular phone or Cellular USB modem for WiFi access anywhere in coverage
  • Compact and portable
  • Charges handset via USB or powers USB modem
  • 10/100 Ethernet port available for wired uplink when available
  • Added firewall prevents unauthorized use of your bandwidth

1- The user experience with devices running Windows Mobile is less robust than other phones and modems. Windows Mobile devices connected to either a PC or a CradlePoint router have exhibited erratic behavior while using data sharing capabilities. Issues include frequent disconnects for no apparent reason and remedies entail frequent rebooting the phone and or removing the phone's battery. This problem is not something that can be resolved by CradlePoint Technology and will need to be addressed by the phone manufacturer. Please refer to our release notes.

2 - These modems can take up to 2.5 minutes to make a data connection. In our tests, they appear to spend a long time attempting to get a signal before they can make a data connection. The Ultra seems to connect more quickly in our tests. Note that the the Ultra Express' performance in the router is not as good as in the PC. This modem works with the router, but if you have a choice any of the other GSM modems such as the Novatel or Sierra Wireless are more compatible.

3 - Requires a USB to ExpressCard adapter

4 - Blackberry Devices running the 5.0 Version of Blackberry Operating System are known to have problems connecting to CradlePoint routers. It is recommended that users wanting to connect or “tether” to a CradlePoint router with their Blackberry device use the 4.x or earlier Blackberry Operating Systems.
